How to apply Press-On Nails?
To obtain optimal adhesion from press-on nails, it is crucial to prepare your natural nails. Here are the steps to follow to ensure your press-on nails hold up well:
Preparation of Natural Nails
-
Gather your Tools : Use the application kit that came with your order of press-on nails.
-
Push Back Cuticles : Using the stick included in the kit, gently push back your cuticles to clear the nail surface.
-
Matify the Natural Nail : Use the pumice block or file to lightly scratch the surface of the nail. This allows the gel-pad or glue to adhere better.
-
Clean with an Alcohol Wipe : Run an alcohol wipe over your nails to remove grease and dust residue. From this point on, make sure you don't touch your nails with anything that could contaminate them.
Preparing Press-On Nails
- Clean the False Nails : Before applying them, also pass an alcohol wipe under the press-on nail to remove any traces of grease or dust. Wait until the false nails are completely dry before applying them.
Application of Press-On Nails
-
Apply the Gel-Pad or Glue : If using a gel-pad, place it approximately 1mm from the cuticle. If you opt for glue, place a small drop in the center of your natural nail.
-
Apply the Press-On Nails : Gently position the false nail starting at the cuticle, then press firmly towards the free edge. Apply light pressure for several seconds to ensure good adhesion.
-
Repeat for Each Finger : Apply the same process to each nail, always starting from the cuticle and using firm pressure.
There you go, your press-on nails are in place! With these simple steps, you have a flawless look that lasts. For best results, avoid activities that could put excessive strain on your nails during the first few hours after application.
How long do press-on nails last?
The longevity of press-on nails varies depending on the application method chosen:
-
Gel-Pads : If you opt for gel-pads, you can expect a hold of 1 to 4 days (maximum). They generally adhere better when the press-on nails are extra short or short in length.
-
Glue : Using glue, hold can last 1-3 weeks. However, it should be noted that they will be more difficult to remove later.
Choose the method that best suits your needs in terms of durability and ease of removal.
How to Remove Press-On Nails
To remove your press-on nails, you will need warm soapy water, a stick, and a little patience!
-
Dip Your Fingers : Fill a bowl with warm, soapy water and dip your fingers in it. Leave them to soak for between 5 and 20 minutes, depending on the method chosen (gel-pads or glue) to apply the press-on nails. You can also add vegetable oil or cuticle oil between your natural nails and the capsules to help with peeling (as well as in the bowl).
-
Use the Stick : After soaking your fingers, take the stick provided in the application kit and begin to gently peel off the capsules. Start from the side of the nail, then gradually work towards the other side.
-
Don't Force : If the press-on nails do not come off easily, extend the soaking time. Do not try to force removal, as this may damage your natural nails or cause pain.
-
Clean the False Nails : Once the press-on nails are removed, clean them to remove any glue or gel pad residue. This will allow you to reuse them later.
